Here in the United States, we are bombarded with imagery, ads, and environmental influences of every kind. Our attitudes often moved by the rollercoaster circumstances of the day. An urban teenager sees a drug dealer with a lot cash, now he longs for that. A young executive steals from his own company, his children learns the same practices of corruption . It’s easy to lose perspective. Sometimes, the environments we live in don’t foster good perceptions. What we see can define us. What we think, assume, and experience can shape the lives we live. Perception is a very important gift to have.
“Sight is a function of the eyes but vision is the function of the heart” –Myles Monroe
Oftentimes, we think of perception as solely a mind thing. A movie once quoted, “If you think you will know.” If life is like music- a harmonious wave of sound whether it’s loud or soft. Perception is the notes and your heart is the musician that plays. Your mind is only half the story but it’s your heart that drives your thoughts and ultimately your actions. Your heart is your passions and appetites. It’s through the heart that we speak not intellect alone. It’s our wrong perception to try to separate the two because whatever you’re passionate about (good or bad) that’s what will motivate your perception. What are your thoughts?
